Overview
Stirling Dynamics is recruiting Modelling and Simulation Contractors to the Simulation, Dynamics and Control team.
Due to upcoming projects and continued growth, Stirling Dynamics are looking for multiple Modelling and Simulation Contractors to join our team.
The successful engineers will work within a team responsible for the development of complex control algorithms and system plant models for next generation marine applications. The role covers all aspects of model based design, including mapping system requirments to model elements, requirements validation and deisgn verification through the use of model based analysis. The modelling and simulation work will be predominantly carried out using Matlab, Simulink and associated toolboxes.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of model based processes, Matlab/Simulink and ideally control theory. They will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work and collaborate within a team of engineers.
The successful contractor will be predominantly based in our Bristol office, although they can work remotely part of the time. The contract will initialy be for 6 months with options for further work beyond this.
Responsibilities
The role will suit an engineer with industrial experience using modelling techniques in he development of systems within the marine industry, but engneers with experience in aerospace and automative will also be considered. The work involves the development of high-level vehicleoat models, system models for actuation and complex algorithms used for control and monitoring.
Candidates will have the following responsibilities:
Defining model and control algorithm requirements Build and test of models Peer review of models Preparation and presentation of results, models etc to customers Formal verification procedures Authoring model documentation
Qualifications
Candidates will ideally be degree qualified (or equivalent) in a related discipline (preferably Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering Mathematics, Physics, or similar).
Skills
Matlab/Simulink Control theory Systems modelling Systems engineering Version control tools (GIT) Familiarity with Atlassian tool chain or similar (Bitbucket, Jira)
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Confidentiality Ability to deal with multiple conflicting requests Abilty to work within a large team Professional attitude
Desired Skills
Application within the Marine sector Advanced control theory, such as Kalman filters, and state estimation Sea state modelling Real time models Code generation C/C++
Experience
Industrial experience is expected, with the role intended to support marine projects, but if you have the skills and experience to match from other industries, then this will be considered.
Benefits
A competitive rate will be agreed based on the contractor's experience
