The below job description will outline this position of: Mechanical Design Engineer.
Typically, this person will design, develop and maintain inflatable craft, assemblies and systems in the form of 3D models, drawings and documentation to the required specifications. The role will involve working on products & projects from concept to completion, including implementation and testing. Frequent collaboration between project management, purchasing and production teams will be required to ensure smooth product development and manufacture. The role demands regular interaction with production, suppliers and contractors. Focus will be on, safety, reliability, manufacturability, quality and functionality.

Duties and responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer:

• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical specifications.
  
• Design and develop innovative, high-quality products that align with the company's technical and commercial objectives.
  
• Create and maintain accurate technical drawings and documentation for new and existing product lines, adhering to British and European standards.
  
• Prepare technical reports based on research, design concepts, structural analysis, calculations, procurement details, and design estimates when required.
  
• Develop inflatable, bonded, and sewn assemblies/fabrications that align with on-site production capabilities.
  
• Continuously improve existing products to meet updated design standards and manufacturing processes.
  
• Ensure understanding and application of drawing and document control and revision procedures to maintain ISO 9001 QMS accreditation.
  
• Provide design input for on-site CNC manufacturing facilities.
  Qualifications and Requirements for the Mechanical Design Engineer:
  
• HNC or Level 4 NVQ in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant STEM field; Level 3 NVQ, BTEC, or A-Levels in relevant STEM subjects with experience are also considered.
  
• Full, valid driving licence.
  
• Experience with SolidWorks CAD software, though familiarity with other 3D modelling packages in a commercial setting may be acceptable.
  
• Experience with AlphaCAM or equivalent CAD/CAM software is a plus.
  
• Ability to obtain SC clearance
