About the Business

My client are a leading engineering business specialising in high-quality fluid transfer systems. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and customer focus, they provide bespoke solutions across a range of industries. Part of there ambitious growth strategy, they are looking to appoint an experienced Manufacturing Manager to lead their Custom Solutions (CS) team and play a key role in driving production performance and customer satisfaction.

The Role

As Manufacturing Manager – Custom Solutions, you will oversee the daily operations of a growing manufacturing function, ensuring high-quality, timely delivery of customised assemblies. You will be responsible for production planning, team management, quality compliance (ISO 9001 and SQS), and continuous process improvement. Working closely with senior leadership, you will help shape operational strategy and support the business in achieving key growth targets.

Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Fulfilment

Manage daily operations of the Custom Solutions team, including resource planning and scheduling.

Drive process efficiency through lean manufacturing and effective resource allocation.

Collaborate across departments to ensure timely, high-quality deliveries.

Technical Competency

Maintain a deep understanding of core products and services within fluid systems.

Provide technical leadership and support continuous learning within the team.

Quality Assurance

Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and internal quality standards.

Manage inspections, testing, non-conformances, and process updates.

Lead initiatives to reduce scrap and improve product consistency.

Leadership & Team Development

Coach, mentor, and develop team members through performance reviews and training.

Support succession planning and team scalability as the business grows.

Health & Safety

Promote and ensure a safe working environment with zero lost-time incidents.

Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.

Key Objectives

Revenue Growth Targets: £5.5m (2025), £7.5m (2026), £10m (2027), £25m (2035)

On-Time In Full (OTIF): Reach 100% within 6 months

Productivity: Increase by 15% per associate

Weld Efficiency: Reduce average weld time to 10 minutes

Revenue per Associate: Increase by 10%

Scrap Rate: Reduce by 50% within 12 months

Health & Safety: Achieve zero lost-time incidents each quarter

Training: 100% of production staff to complete core skills training within 6 months

What They Are Looking ForEssential

5+ years’ experience in manufacturing or operational management

HND (or equivalent) in a technical discipline

Strong leadership and team development experience

Technical knowledge of assembly and fabrication processes

Familiarity with ISO 9001, lean methodologies, and quality systems

Proficient in interpreting CAD/P&ID drawings and using ERP/CRM tools (SAP, HubSpot, etc.)

Preferred

Degree-level education in engineering, manufacturing, or related discipline

Experience in process improvement and project management

Background in fluid systems or related industries

Competency with business development or cross-functional leadership

Working Environment

Office-based with flexibility for occasional home working

Regional travel required for training and development

Must hold a full UK driving licence

Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment with PPE
