Hours:

Earlies: 6.30 to 14.00 Mon-Thurs 6.30 to 13.30 Fri (10% shift premium) (37hrs) Lates: 14.00 to 22.00 Mon-Thurs 13.30 to 18.30 Fri (15% shift premium) (37hrs) Days: Monday to Thursday 07:30am to 15:45pm and 07:30am to 15:15pm on Friday (37hrs) – PLEASE NOTE IF SUCCESSFUL YOU WILL WORK ON A DAY SHIFT BEFORE MOVING ONTO THE ABOVE SHIFT PATTEREN.

Who will you be working with?

Napier Turbocharger, a Wabtec Company, is looking for a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team. We design, manufacture, and test industrial turbochargers for the power generation, marine, and rail traction industries.

How will you make a difference?

Knowledge of modern machining and manufacturing processes, NC programming, ideally from a low-volume, high accuracy manufacturing environment e.g., Aerospace, Power Generation. Candidates must be highly motivated, be a good problem solver and be able to work both independently and in a team environment.

What will your typical day look like?

Lead and manage projects within Manufacturing taking responsibility for delivery, project planning, execution and cost. Creation and maintenance of supporting documentation to include Manufacturing Routings, Layouts and instructions. Define, perform and implement investigations into non-conformance through root cause analysis and corrective actions. Inspection activities including the creation of non-conformance reports, in process and final inspection protocols. Work cross functionally with different departments such as Design, Quality, Procurement and external suppliers. Define and procure jigs, fixtures, tooling, gauging and lifting equipment. Generate and implement cost reduction initiatives. NC programming of multi-axis Turning, Milling, Grinding and EDM machines. Programming of CMMs using PC-DMIS.

What do we want to know about you?

Ideally you will be qualified to HNC level or above in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with having undergone relevant training as Manufacturing Technician/ Engineer Experience in a modern manufacturing facility with a good understanding of modern machining techniques, plus problem solving techniques. Demonstrated knowledge of Siemens NX (CAM) and Hypermill would be advantageous. Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing techniques and processes. Computer/ software literate
