Mechanical Maintenance Technician / Mechanical Fitter

Salary: £47,500 + 30 days holiday + pension + Life assurance x4 annual salary

Location: Yeadon / Otley (easily commutable from Bradford, Leeds, Harrogate)

Hours: a mix of 3 and 4 day or night shifts with 7 days off every 4th week

14 x 12 hour shifts over 28 days

Eg NNNNOOO-DDDONNN-OOODDDD-OOOOOOO

(N = Nights O = Off D = Days)

Over 50% of the year off / 7 months off

do not have to work more than four days in a row.

3-day weekend every other week.

A full week off every fourth week.

Schedule is stable and predictable.

The Job:

  • 80% preventative maintenance and 20% reactive.

  • A mix of day and night shifts with good work life balance

  • Good prospects for training and gaining experience from experienced supervisors and managers.

  • Prospects to be involved in future modernisation projects

  • A mixture of old and new equipment and machinery across a large site

  • Pumps, gearboxes, agitators, mixing vessels, boilers and boiler house equipment, compressors, fans, gas booster systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, overhead cranes and lift systems.

  • Installation of new rotating equipment including accurate alignment.

  • Machining on lathes, milling machine, pillar drill etc.

  • Welding and basic fabrication.

  • Working with apprentices as well as very experienced maintenance and production staff.

  • Thorough training and onboarding

    The Person:

  • Ideally 5 years + electrical maintenance experience gained in an industrial or manufacturing setting

  • Instrumentation knowledge would be an advantage but not essential.

  • Project experience may be an advantage for potential future investment and modernisation projects

  • Background in any of the following would be useful; heavier engineering process plants, chemical, steel, glass, recycling, steel, energy, gas, paper. Ultimately all most backgrounds / applicants considered.

  • Compex or Atex awareness or certificates would be an advantage but not essential.

    The Company:

    The team and company are very friendly and work as a team. The company is very well established with a global customer base manufacturing sustainable and in demand products. There is a professional yet informal and relaxed feel to the plant. There will be opportunities to improve and learn new skills, get involved in projects and progress if you wanted to.

    Low staff turnover – this role is to replace someone retiring.
