Job Title: Lead Systems Engineer

Location: Bristol - Hybrid - 2 days every 2 weeks on-site

Role Type: Permanent

Salary: £58,000 - £65,000 per annum depending on experience

Our client, an established aerospace & defence engineering firm, require an experienced Lead Systems Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team.

You'll have the exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and fast-paced programme during a pivotal period of transformation, as we embrace a more model-based approach to systems engineering.

What the role of the Lead Systems Engineer entails:

Some of the main duties of the Lead Systems Engineer will include:

Lead and manage a team of 10-20 requirements and systems engineers, driving the development and management of the requirements set for the project
Collaborate closely with the Ministry of Defence to translate their needs into a well-defined requirements set, while engaging with key stakeholders such as the Office of the Chief Engineer and engineering delivery teams
Oversee the decomposition and allocation of functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring smooth transition from user needs to equipment and supplier levels
Manage the collation of Verification and Validation (V&V) evidence within the requirements management tool (DOORS) and oversee the Acceptance process
Work in partnership with the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) team to maintain alignment between the requirements set and system models, maximizing the benefits of MBSE for requirements optimization

What experience you need to be the successful Lead Systems Engineer:

In-depth knowledge and expertise in Requirements Systems Engineering
A good background in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
Proven experience in stakeholder management with excellent relationship-building skills
Leadership abilities or a genuine enthusiasm to transition into a leadership role after a technical career path
Familiarity with DOORS requirements management software is highly desirable
