What You’ll Do:
IMG Studios is a premier production centre with state-of-the art studios, post-production and live operations facilities. It houses 4 HD broadcast television studios, 10 production galleries, 3 dubbing suites, 50 edit destinations, 3 radio studios, an award-winning 3D Graphics & Visual Effects team, and one of the largest data centres built specifically for digital media and broadcast in recent times. The Master Control Room includes 5 transmission suites and monitors over 700 HD lines in & out of the building. With its own satellite farm and direct links to many of the leading sports stadia in the UK, IMG Studios is at the centre of sports and entertainment production and distribution.
We are currently looking for a Lead Project Engineer who specialises in Broadcast IP systems to join our growing Projects team, where you will play a key role in the delivery of internal IMG Engineering and Infrastructure projects.
Within this Lead role, you will take full ownership delivering projects and will be responsible for the training and development of the team as well as supporting the core engineering team, within an ever-changing technologically advanced broadcast environment. You will also be key in driving the expansion of IMG’s 2110 IP Infrastructure, including workflow decisions and equipment choice.
PLEASE NOTE:This is a permanent full-time role based at our facility in Stockley Park, Uxbridge. The core working hours are Monday-Friday office hours with requirement to work some unsociable hours when needed.
Key Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To:
Total ownership of delivering projects.
Lead and assist with technical workflows.
Make key technical equipment decisions and assist with procurement.
Build and maintain relationships with internal/external clients and suppliers.
Create and manage project documentation including but not limited to- Project timelines, workflow/system schematics and cable schedules.
Leading the training and development of knowledge and experience within the Engineering Team on the core equipment and software under your brief to always ensure consistent quality of support.
Using available tools to analyse systems for technical integrity and complex fault resolution, you will understand all technology used within your responsibility, and the relevant underlying engineering principles.
Working as part of a wider dynamic engineering team towards engineering excellence including developments and special projects within IMG Studios.
Shared monitoring and compliance with all Health and Safety across the Engineering team.
To provide leadership cover for the other Lead Engineers including leading a shift when rostered opposite another Lead Engineer.
To pro-actively participate and share the responsibility for the recruitment, management, pastoral care, and supervision of the general Engineering Team.
Document, and communicate both technical and operational issues when required, including assisting with the proper maintenance of the Asset Register.
To work in a consultative and advisory capacity on projects directly related to existing business needs, growth, new business pitches and RFPs. This advisory role will include all aspects of typical consultancy covering written documents, the preparation of diagrams to depict workflow and full budget preparation.
Maintain and update any paperwork required as efficiently as possible.
You Will Have The Following Strengths:
Experience working in Broadcast engineering.
Previous project delivery experience.
Strong knowledge of Broadcast IP network design and implementation, SMPTE 2022, 2110, NMOS.
Strong IT and Networking skills.
Strong understanding/knowledge of Broadcast and IT within an engineering capacity.
Experience designing and implementing 2110 IP systems.
Demonstrated established relationships with clients at all levels.
Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the following areas; Planning, Quality Focus, resolving problems, Managing Processes, and Commercial Awareness
Self-motivated with strong timekeeping and organisational skills
Attention to detail as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to analyse and effectively disseminate technical information clearly and in a concise manner.
Ability to keep calm and react positively in a pressured environment whilst understanding the urgency of a technical challenge.
Provide creative solutions to technical challenges under pressure.
Communicate effectively with clients and staff when addressing technical issues, giving up-dates and explaining solutions.
Project management experience is desirable.
