Our client is looking for a Junior Cost Accountant to be part of the Finance team and collaborate closely with the Operations and Commercial teams to provide timely and accurate costing data that supports informed business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities – Junior Cost Accountant

Collaborate with the Commercial team to produce accurate product costings by working closely with both Engineering and Commercial teams to develop reliable cost estimates for accurate quoting.
Review time recording accuracy, analyse variances, and support the development and monitoring of efficiency KPIs.
Oversee inventory costing data, ensuring the ERP system maintains accurate and up-to-date cost information.
Manage and report on stock counts, including cross-checking results and overseeing annual external stock audits.
Support the preparation of annual budgets and monthly/quarterly forecasts.
Complete month-end processes and fulfill parent company reporting requirements across all assigned areas, including Revenue, Cost of Goods Sold, Inventory, and Work-in-Progress balances.
Produce monthly project profitability reports, comparing actuals to estimates and identifying key variances.
Deliver ad hoc reporting, cost analysis, and project-related insights as needed.
Provide support with treasury functions, purchase ledger duties, and related reconciliations on an ad hoc basis.
Qualifications & Requirements – Junior Cost Accountant

Strong numeracy, analytical, and investigative skills
AAT or CIMA part-qualified, or recently qualified
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a small team
Highly deadline-driven with strong time management and prioritisation skills
Proven experience in generating and utilising reports to support data-driven business decisions
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
Recent experience in the capital goods industry is desirable
Proactive, positive, and collaborative working style
Demonstrated experience in inventory and project costing within a manufacturing environment
Self-motivated with the ability to manage your own schedule and prioritise workload effectively
Confident in engaging with internal and external stakeholders to discuss finance-related matters
Strong IT skills, with working knowledge of fully integrated ERP systems—experience with IFS is advantageous
Hands-on, dynamic, and proactive approach with a positive work ethic
