Purpose of the Role

To be the first point of call for the business unit in the timely and satisfactory resolution of IT issues. Work with the ALTD central IT team on ongoing IT projects and compliance activities. Assist business users with applications and support any improvement activities in processes / adoption.

Working alongside business partners to resolve IT or applications issues – whilst driving continuous improvement of systems across the business unit.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide first line support for all IT issues looking to troubleshoot and resolve in person or escalating for second line support as necessary.

  • Supports Infrastructure and Security lead in resolution of security vulnerabilities e.g. by installing patches or working with end users in resolution.

  • Repairing or replacing damaged hardware to maintain system integrity

  • Liaises with software vendors to ensure applications are used effectively. Performing tests and evaluations of software as necessary to ensure software meets user requirements.

  • Maintains and creates documentation and work instructions.

  • Configures software to meet end user requirements.

  • Assists in IT projects and acts as first point of call for company end users for any related issues.

    Qualifications & Experience Required

  • BTEC or equivalent qualification in IT (or higher).

  • Proven experience in a user-facing IT support role.

  • Experience providing IT support within a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.

  • Familiarity with ticketed help desk systems for managing IT requests.

  • Experience working within a Cyber Essentials Plus-certified organisation is desirable.

    Technical Knowledge

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, with strong Excel skills.

  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as Factory Master (highly desirable).

  • Knowledge of BI solutions like QlikSense or Crystal Reports (highly desirable).

  • Experience with workflow and document management systems (e.g., SharePoint, Power Automate, Therefore) (desirable).

  • Understanding of patch management technologies (e.g., Desktop Central).

  • Strong grasp of IT security principles, including Cyber Essentials, encryption, and multi-factor authentication (MFA).

  • Experience working within a Cyber Essentials Plus-certified organisation (advantageous).
