The Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, confident, and driven individual to join a global leader in the rail industry as an HSQE Manager. You will have the autonomy to lead and drive high standards in Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental (HSQE) practices within the UK Subsidiary across the Northwest region.

Key responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to push forward the strategic objectives and HSQE initiatives.
Lead the HSQE UK Team to deliver a comprehensive support service to meet the evolving needs of the organisation.
Ensure sites remain engaged with safety performance and compliance while delivering measurable improvements.
HSQE Governance & Compliance
Own the governance of the HSQE systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and legal requirements.
Support the implementation and governance of legal compliance and industry conformance across the business.
Develop and enforce relevant HSQE policies and procedures that integrate across the Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental management system.
Responsible for the delivery of the internal and external audit program.
Driving Performance & Targets
Set ambitious goals for the HSQE function, aligning objectives with the organisation’s strategy and vision.
Ensure clear KPIs are established and monitored, driving continuous improvement and excellence across all HSQE areas.
Focus on sustainability targets, people development, and operational performance to maintain high standards within HSQE.
Autonomy in Decision Making & Risk Management
Take ownership of HSQE outcomes, with the autonomy to make decisions that align with company goals.
Lead the implementation of a risk management framework, working closely with stakeholders across the organisation to identify and mitigate risks.
Support the Head of Compliance in driving continuous improvement through clear, measurable objectives and performance indicators.
Candidate Essentials:
Extensive experience within a HSE position.
Previous team lead experience or ability to showcase competence in stepping into a management position.
Manufacturing/logistics/rail/aerospace/military background.
Internal Auditing experience.
UK Driving License
Qualifications:
NEBOSH General qualification & IOSH Membership (technician or graduate level)
Desirable:
NEBOSH diploma
IEMA or PIEMA certification.
Auditing Qualifications (eg. IIA)
