The Catapult has recently adopted a newmatrix structure with strategies aligned to our Missions whichprovide the direction by which that ambition can be fulfilled. Themissions are delivered by multifunctional teams that includemembers from across the different technology teams so that newideas and collaborations can grow. The Geospatial Intelligence (GI)team members are critical to bringing Earth Observation (EO)expertise into mission teams. The Role This fixed term role as aPrincipal EO Consultant will include acting as the Subject MatterLead for Earth Observation on the Sustainable Earth Mission. Thisis an important activity as part of the Mission Leadership Teaminvolved in developing and implementing the mission strategy andacting as the key liaison between the mission and the Head of theGI department. As a Principal EO Consultant you will work withinthe Geospatial Intelligence team on developing new valuepropositions for geospatial data and technologies, with a focus onEO. Technical activities will range from internal research,technical support to companies and commercial productisation, itwill also involve support to academic researchers on the Researcherin Residence programme, working collaboratively with externalcommunities and supporting thought leadership activities.Candidates will be expected to be available from early to mid-Mayfor a period of 13 months including handover periods. Thesuccessful candidate will: - Have a comprehensive knowledge of EOdata and be able to communicate its application and relevance to agiven problem. - Have experience in the definition and developmentof innovative geospatial solutions utilising the most appropriategeospatial technologies and data sets to meet customer / marketneeds. - Have a detailed understanding of value propositiondevelopment and an understanding of the development andcommunication of financial value propositions. - Be an excellentcommunicator, equally comfortable discussing a technicalarchitecture on a whiteboard one day and communicating the value ofa solution to a customer the next. To ensure success in the role,you will: - Lead the collaborative development of new geospatialsolution concepts. - Lead the successful delivery of projectactivities. - Be responsible for proposing prototype solutions tomeet customer needs and will be accountable for ensuring that theproposed technical solutions are both commercially and technicallyviable. - Share best practice through the collaborative developmentand delivery of workshops and masterclasses to users of EO datawith other Catapult colleagues. - Engage with potential users of EOdata to understand their business challenges across their supplychain and collaborate to create solutions that will address thesechallenges. - Provide mentorship to less-experienced colleaguesthat enables personal and professional growth. About You - Degreeor equivalent in a relevant discipline with associated technicalexpertise. - Extensive knowledge of the applications of EO dataacross the spectrum. - Experience of contemporary geospatial dataformats and management principles. - Knowledge of the UK andinternational EO market landscape. - Experience in supportingproposals, development of value propositions and bid writing. -Experience of processing and analysing spatial data sets andapplying data science methods in relevant software packages e.g.,ENVI, QGIS, ArcGIS, R, C++, Java, Python or equivalent. -Experience in using AI/ML techniques for EO data analysis. -Experience of technical leadership and solutions development. -Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability tolisten to and interpret requirements with technical andnon-technical audiences. - Strong analysis and problem-solvingskills. - Experience of customer engagement and placing customerneeds at the heart of decision making. - Ability to engage withindustry, government, and academia to foster partnerships and driveinnovation. - Experience in mentoring and fostering a collaborativelearning environment. - Strong team player.
