Job Title: General Hand
Location: Outskirts of Redditch
Salary: £12.85 per hour
Hours: Days 7.30am - 4.30pm with an early Friday finish

EMBS Engineering is seeking a skilled and motivated General Hand to join a well-established and innovative precision engineering company located in on the southern outskirts of Birmingham near Redditch.   Key Responsibilities:
  
  
• Facility Upkeep: Perform comprehensive cleaning, general maintenance, minor repairs, and waste disposal across all areas.
  
  
• Inventory Management: Monitor, order, and restock cleaning supplies and sundries.
  
  
• Grounds & Equipment: Maintain external grounds, operate gardening tools, and conduct basic checks on vehicles and equipment.
  
  
• Diverse Maintenance Skills: Apply basic mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting skills, along with furniture assembly.
  
  
• Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to COSHH, EHS policies, and all safety regulations.
  
  
• Documentation & Reporting: Accurately record maintenance activities and report facility or machinery faults.
  
  
• Deliveries: Support with of internal and external deliveries of stock between sites (ad-hoc) using company vehicle.
  
  About You:
  This role requires a resourceful and adaptable individual with a strong aptitude for hands-on work. We are looking for someone who is proactive in identifying and addressing needs, comfortable across a broad spectrum of duties, and eager to contribute effectively within a busy operational setting.
  
  Essential Requirements:
  
  
• Unrestricted right to work in the UK.
  
  
• Willingness to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  
  
• Ability to commute to South Birmingham, reside within a commutable distance or are considering relocation to this area.
  
  
• Clean driving license
  
  This position requires the successful candidate to undergo UK security clearance. To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the above essential requirements. Please note that due to the security clearance requirements, we are unable to sponsor visas for this position.
  
  Skills Required:
  
  
• Strong understanding of health and safety standards.
  
  
• Excellent organisational and housekeeping skills, ensuring a tidy and efficient workspace.
  
  
• Adept at working effectively in fast-paced environments.
  
  
• Flexible and available for a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends as and when required.
  
  
• Experience of operating equipment such as FLT, machines, heavy duty tools etc.
  
  
• Qualifications in the following would be highly desirable; First Aid, IOSH, NEBOSH, Manual Handling, PASMA, Electrical standards
