Overview

We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and hands-on Finance Director to join our growing group of manufacturing businesses. With a group £10m turnover across three separate entities, this role offers the unique opportunity to drive both operational and strategic financial improvements in a varied group of businesses. You will work closely with the CEO and senior management teams to shape the future direction of the businesses.

Westley Richards & Co Ltd is a renowned manufacturer of high-end bespoke firearms. Established in 1812, the company has built a prestigious reputation for producing some of the finest quality guns in the world. In addition to firearms, Westley Richards & Co. operates a retail store and e-commerce website, where it sells its own manufactured range of leather goods, own-branded clothing and accessories, and a select range of third-party brands.

Westley Engineering Ltd is a traditional engineering company that primarily focuses on providing high-quality press work, tooling, and precision machining components and services, catering to the needs of the aerospace, defence, and automotive sectors.

Teague Precision Chokes Ltd is a leading brand in the shotgun choke industry. They use advanced technology and materials for the manufacture of shotgun chokes for both clay shooting and game shooting. They are known for their precision engineering, offering shooters the ability to fine-tune their gun's performance for maximum accuracy and consistency.

The Role

Strategic Leadership & Financial Planning

  • Lead the financial strategy for the group, working closely with the management team to align financial strategy with business goals.

  • Provide financial insights and support to drive the overall strategy of the three businesses.

  • Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial performance metrics to track business performance.

    Operational Financial Management

  • Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements, reports, and analysis for senior management and external stakeholders.

  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and cost control initiatives to ensure financial health across the group.

  • Drive the continuous improvement of financial processes within the businesses.

  • Lead a review and enhancement of the group’s existing ERP system to streamline financial operations, improve reporting, and ensure system functionality supports business growth.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and tax requirements.

  • Act as the main point of contact for banks, external auditors, HMRC, and other regulatory bodies.

    Team Management & Development

  • Lead and develop a small finance team across the three businesses, ensuring effective performance and training.

  • Foster a results-driven environment where reporting date targets are achieved, and team members are supported in their professional growth.

    M&A / Business Partnerships

  • Provide financial analysis and strategic guidance on potential acquisitions, and partnerships to support the group’s growth ambitions.

  • Support due diligence processes and integration activities for any acquisitions, ensuring financial synergies are realised and risks mitigated.

    Requirements

    ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or equivalent), with significant experience in a senior finance role.

    Proven track record as a Finance Director or Senior Financial Manager, ideally within a manufacturing or multi-site business.

    Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.

    Strong experience in leading a finance team.

    Demonstrable experience in process improvements, particularly in financial systems and operational workflows.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

    Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    Strong business acumen and a proactive approach to identifying and solving financial challenges.

    Desirable

    Previous experience working in a group structure with multiple entities.

    Experience in leading ERP systems selection and implementation projects.

    Understanding of M&A processes, from initial evaluation to integration.

    Experience in IT Management, using Oracle Netsuite would be advantageous.

    Offer

    Competitive salary and benefits package. £90,000-£110,000.

    Annual performance-based bonus.
