We’re on the hunt for a Freight Forwarder who thrives in the fast lane. Someone who has a passion for dealing with all aspects of freight, where no two days are the same, then we want to hear from you.
We are located just off the A23 in Bolney, in order to apply for this position you must be able to commute to Bolney. This role is based in a semi-rural location therefore own transport will be required as its an office based role.

Summary
We are seeking a Freight Forwarder to join our dynamic team at EBISS UK LTD. In this role, you will play a vital part in managing logistics operations and ensuring the smooth transportation of goods. Your contributions will be essential in maintaining our high standards of service and supporting our diverse clientele.
You will need to have previous experience of working in a logistics team environment, where you have knowledge of international transportation and the logistics industry. You will be able to provide an excellent level of customer service throughout the lifetime of each movement, build customer relationships and assist the client with advice and assistance when required.
Freight Forwarder Job responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Logistics, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Preparing quotations for freight clients and our internal departments.
  • Deciding on the best way to package items, considering factors such as type of goods and shipping method.
  • Considering and planning the most effective route for shipping, not just price driven, thinking out reliability and potential risks.
  • Obtain full costings for all shipping options, determine the best shipping method and ensure a profitability for all jobs.
  • Taking appropriate measures for the movement of delicate goods.
  • Organising the transportation of shipments between intermediate destinations – usually cargo terminals, port facilities.
  • Maintaining operating systems to manage shipments and quotes and ensuring these systems are kept updated.
  • Tracking the movement of shipments using software and satellite technology ensuring all shipments are delivered on time .
  • Liaising with international agents
  • Staying up to date with relevant political activities and local legislation that might impact the transportation of freight.
  • Processing of customs paperwork, applicable to nature of goods being shipped ensuring all local laws and regulations have been adhered to.
  • Billing: raising invoices ensuring that profit margins are managed.
  • Processing supplier invoices.
  • Advise the Head of Logistics of any potential issues or delays.
  • Support the team with maintaining relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Booking and manage shipments on Behalf of EBISS Inc and Ebiss GmbH
    Skills & Experience
    Essential
  • At least 2 years previous experience of working in a freight team environment, with knowledge of the international transportation and logistics industry.
  • Critical thinking to establish solutions for clients to solve their freight shipping issues.
  • Be able to demonstrate good knowledge of UK and International customs requirements including home use, temporary imports and exports, ATA Carnet.
  • Knowledge of raising shipping documents including AWB, BOL, courier shipments.
  • A dedication to provide excellent customer service with a strong organisational skillset.
  • High level of attention to detail and strong administrative skills who can work under pressure to strict deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise commercial judgement.
  • Excellent in problem-solving and decision making, professional and positive approach and self-motivated. A proactive can-do attitude and willingness to stay to get the job done.
  • Flexibility, including occasional out-of-hours work, is essential to meet the needs of our customers.
  • IT Skills: MS excel, Teams, Outlook and Calendars
