North American Construction Services, Ltd. is hiring a permanent, full-time fitter to join our team in Pinson/Birmingham, AL.

At Fives, we all have a part to play in achieving our common mission. Your role will be:

Verifies conformance of work piece to specifications, using squares, levels, measuring tape and other measuring devices Assemble parts via tack welding or bolting Add bracing for welding as necessary Put all layout lines on and have them inspected. All center lines on round pipes and cylinders will be center punched before any fitting begins Check all dimensions on parts and remove all slag, dirt, rust, and oil from the metals before fitting Fit up will not have more than 1/32” gap and/or more than 1/16” out of tolerance without supervisor approval Put all weld symbols on the assembly and lay out all skip welds while only tacking in the weld zones

Proven experience as a structural plate fitter: 5+ years of related experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience Previous experience in heavy manufacturing A one-year certificate from college or technical school is preferred High School Diploma / GED Ability to read blueprints  Perform the following math as needed: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and trigonometry for whole numbers and fractions
