We are currently recruiting for a Finance Business Partner to join the finance team of a defence client based in Wolverhampton. The successful candidate will have strong business partnering and technical accounting skills along with business acumen and be a confident individual who is comfortable acting as a key point of contact for the leadership team.
The post holder will provide insightful analysis the individual will support improved business decision making, maximising potential returns and challenging the team to think differently to drive both continuous improvement and a cost-conscious culture.
Key duties
Month end activity to support reporting on actual performance against forecast and budget / long range plan with supporting analysis and commentary
Preparation of the business forecasts, annual budget and strategic financial plans.
Provide financial insight and advice to the business leadership team; generate timely reporting and analysis to support optimal decision making and satisfy internal reporting.
Challenge the business to delivery against its commitments and support growth initiatives.
Support in the preparation and delivery of reporting packs for the business .
Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to drive improvements and share best practice.
Support continuous improvement and deployment through active participation on Lean Events, Workshops and Continuous Improvement activities. Proactively seek to create opportunities for improvement in Finance and the wider business.
Work with the business to develop and build business case models for key strategic initiatives. Challenging the business as necessary.
Ensure the control environment is maintained and complies with company accounting policies and procedures in line with US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley and international accounting standards.
Support in the preparation of Capital Investment business case models, challenging the business as required.
Coordinate audit processes for the Finance team as required (Internal & External)
Support in the coaching and development of Finance Analysts, helping to improve bench strength.
Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships and ensure the Military leadership team are aware and informed financially to guide improved decision making.
Support the provision of Finance for Non-Finance training across the Military business.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience
Significant post qualified finance experience , with ACA or CIMA qualification
Resilient individual who is committed to the success of the function and organisation
Strong commercial acumen, with good understanding of business cases and investment analysis.
Experience of working in a manufacturing environment or aerospace environment
Inventory accounting experience
Business partnering experience with a demonstrated ability to influence business leaders and finance colleagues
Proactive and hands-on approach to problem solving
Challenges the status quo.
Strong analytical skills
Advanced MS Office including strong Excel skills
Strong communication skills, preferably experience at all levels of an organisation.
Adaptable and able to make both timely and effective decisions
Knowledge of US and UK GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley legislation (preferred)
Experienced user of SAP and HFM
Able to work as part of a team
