Job Title: Estimator

Industry: Utilities

Location: Remote working (monthly on-site meeting in Derby, Warwick or Birmingham)

Contract Type: Initial 6-month contract (with potential for extension)

Pay rate: Up to £600 per day via Umbrella Inside IR35

Company Overview

A leading energy transmission company is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their strategic infrastructure team, focusing on electricity transmission projects. This company is dedicated to delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions.

Role Overview

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate construction estimates for large-scale complex projects within the electricity transmission sector. This role involves collaborating with various teams and vendors to ensure all aspects of the project are considered and accurately priced.

Key Responsibilities

Develop detailed estimates using first principles estimating techniques.
Utilize Candy estimating software to create accurate project cost projections.
Focus on high voltage and energy sector projects, but experience in other regulated sectors like defence or aviation is also valuable.
Work on various projects related to substations, overhead lines, and underground cables.
Handle installation, commissioning, design, and project management aspects of these projects.
Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to gather necessary information for estimates.
Communicate effectively with vendors and other departments to resolve issues and ensure project requirements are met.
Be open to working on projects across different regulated sectors.
Adapt to varying project sizes and complexities, from smaller projects to those worth hundreds of millions of dollars.Skills and Experience:

Experience in estimating within regulated sectors such as Energy, Aerospace, Commercial Construction, and Defence.
Familiarity with Candy estimating software is highly desirable.
Experience with high voltage projects is beneficial but not mandatory.
Strong numeracy and commercial acumen, with a keen understanding of the impact of decisions on overall costs.
Knowledge of construction techniques and their implications on budgeting.
Exceptional organisational skills and a results-oriented mindset.
Willingness to learn and adapt, maintaining effective communication across all levels of the organisation.
