Contract Engineering Inspector (Aerospace Components)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Contract Engineering Inspector to join our team, playing a crucial role in ensuring the quality and integrity of aerospace components. This position is ideal for a meticulous professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to maintaining the highest standards in aviation manufacturing.

Location: London Area, UK (with easy access to major airports like Gatwick and Heathrow).

Contract Duration: Approximately 3 months.

Remuneration: £31.50 per hour.

Working Hours:

Guaranteed Minimum: 25 hours per week (standby retainer).
Expected: Up to 40 hours per week.
Overtime: Any hours worked beyond 40 per week will be paid at an overtime rate.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Engineering Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting critical quality inspections at various supplier sites. Your primary duties will include:

Performing source inspections of aircraft parts and sub-assemblies.
Specialising in First Article Inspection (FAI) reports and verification.
Inspecting a diverse range of aerospace components, including but not limited to aircraft seats, galleys, and lavatories.
Ensuring all inspected parts comply with engineering drawings, specifications, and relevant aerospace industry standards.
Documenting inspection results thoroughly and accurately, including any non-conformances.
Collaborating effectively with supplier quality teams to resolve inspection findings.
Travelling to various supplier locations as required within the London and surrounding areas, utilising your proximity to key airports.

Candidate Requirements:

Proven experience as an Engineering Inspector, ideally within the aerospace or a similarly regulated industry.
Strong understanding of First Article Inspection (FAI) processes and documentation (AS9102 knowledge highly desirable).
Demonstrable ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
Familiarity with quality control standards and inspection techniques for fabricated and assembled components.
Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with suppliers and internal teams.
Ability to work independently and manage a variable workload.
Must be based in the London area with easy access to major airports such as Gatwick and Heathrow for efficient travel to supplier sites.
Valid driving license and willingness to travel as required.This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated Engineering Inspector to contribute to vital aerospace projects on a contract basis.
