Job Description

What will you be doing? 

As an Electronics Design engineer,you will join our team in Birmingham to support our activities within the aerospace sector. We are seeking a skilled engineer to contribute to the design, development, and testing ofadvanced electronic and electrical systems, includingpower converters, circuit boards, and embedded systems. You’ll play a crucial role in integratingstate-of-the-art power electronics technologiesand collaborating with key stakeholders to drive innovation.

Your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Design, develop, and testelectronic and electrical hardware components, includinganalogue and digital circuit design, power units, and processing elements.
  • Research and integrateadvanced power electronics components, such asnew power devices, passive components, magnetics, and cooling technologies.
  • Collaborate withsuppliers and stakeholdersto source and implement innovative technologies for power electronics systems.
  • Developcomponent, sub-system, and system-level modelsto accelerate design, development, and testing activities.
  • Work onpower electronics converter integration, ensuring seamless operation with associated components such aselectrical machines, power networks, and control systems.
  • Write and reviewtechnical reports, architecture documents, test plans, and procedures, ensuring compliance withDO160E-G and DO254 standards.

Qualifications

Experience, skills and qualifications required: 

  • 7+ years of experienceinelectronics design engineering.
  • Strong background inanalogue and digital circuit design, includingpower supply and embedded systems.
  • Hands-on experience withhigh-voltage testingand working withinelectronics unit design life cycles.
  • Familiarity withEMC, gate drives, sensors, and 3D printing.
  • Ability to performrequirement analysis, developarchitecture documents, and integrate design instructions forPCB and thermal engineers.
  • Experience working withinTechnology Readiness Levels (TRLs)anddesigning electronic units for aerospace and defence applications.
