Our client , a leading UK-based machine tool specialist is expanding its Applications team within the EDM Team and seeking an engineer to join the team on a permanent basis.

This business specialises in delivering engineered solutions for the aerospace market in relation to EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) machine tools from stand-alone machines to fully automated manufacturing cells.

The role will require travel across the UK and Ireland to meet with customers as required therefore a willingness to travel is needed.

The successful candidate will be required to engage with customers to deliver tailored training on products, support pre-sales activity and manage the full delivery of turnkey engineering packages.

This would suit individuals with previous experience in a similar role or candidate with a background in Production Engineering related to EDM Machining.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver in-depth customer training courses covering EDM machine operation, programming, and maintenance

  • Contribute to pre-sales support through component test cuts, cycle time estimations, and fixture planning

  • Develop machining strategies and create CNC programs (ISO and CAM-based)

  • Manage prove-out, First Article Inspection (FAI), and Acceptance Criteria on customer sites

  • Work independently or as part of a team to deliver high-value engineering solutions

  • Travel throughout the UK and Ireland to oversee turnkey project implementation

    Skills/ Experience

  • Demonstrable background working within an EDM machine tool environment (Wire EDM, Sink EDM, or Fast Hole Drilling)

  • Hands-on background as a Production Engineer or CNC Machine Tool Setter/Operator (Advantageous)

  • Exposure to CAM software for program generation and simulation (advantageous)

  • High level of self-motivation, organisation, and effective time management

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
