Hanwha Aerospace began its military gas turbine engine MRO business in the 1980's and expanded its operations to include military gas turbine engine development, production, and engine component manufacturing.

Aero Engines Business Group has recently integrated three key business units - Aero Systems Business Group, International Engine Business Group and Future Aero R&D institute - into one. The integration will allow us to accelerate globalization of the business by maximizing synergies.


Position Overview:

Hanwha Aerospace is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Director to lead and expand our Commercial business and MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) business. This role is critical in driving growth within these strategic sectors, developing key relationships with Commercial organizations, contractors, and MRO providers, and managing the business development process from identification of opportunities to contract finalization. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Commercial engine market and International MRO markets, with a proven ability to secure new business and foster long-term partnerships.


Key Responsibilities:


Business Development:

  1. Identify and pursue new opportunities within the Commercial and MRO Sectors.
  2. Set goals and develop plans for business revenue growth.
  3. Generate leads through networking and cold-calling prospective clients.
  4. Lead the proposal development process including the preparation of bid and negotiation for new contracts.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams based on the United States, South Korea and Vietnam to identify and develop customer solutions.


Program Management:

  1. Oversee key engine programs from start to finish ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  2. Serve as the primary interface between the customer and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and timely executions of customer needs.
  3. Monitor program performance, manage risks and implement corrective actions.
  4. Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product delivery.


Strategic Planning:

  1. Develop and execute strategic plans for business growth within the aerospace sector.
  2. Analyze market trends, customer needs and competitor activities to drive long-term initiatives.
  3. Forecast revenue, identify risks and opportunities and develop strategic plans to meet financial targets.


Customer Advocacy:

  1. Serve as a customer advocate ensuring customer feedback is captured.
  2. Maintain strong, ongoing communication with customers to foster long-term relationships.


Collaboration & Reporting:

  1. Work closely with internal departments including engineering, finance, operations and legal to develop comprehensive proposals and ensure alignment with contractual terms.
  2. Collaborate closely with relevant departments in the United States, South Korea and Vietnam and report to the management across different time zone.
  3. Prepare regular reports on business development activities, program status and market conditions for senior management.
  4. Represent the company at industry events, conferences and trade shows to promote our Commercial and MRO capabilities.


Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or a related field OR equivalent experience.
  2. 10+ years of business development or program management in the aerospace industry.
  3. Proven track record of successfully managing complex aerospace programs and securing new business.
  4. Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, products and industry regulations.
  5. Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or MBA/advanced degree preferred.
  2. Experience working with aerospace defense contractors or government programs.
  3. Familiarity with contract management and legal aspects of aerospace agreements.
  4. PMP(Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent program management experience.
  5. Strong technical understanding of aerospace engines, systems and components.
  6. Experience in international business development across such as Asia and the United States.
