About the Opportunity
Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.
Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.
Jacob are seeking a Diesel Technical Lead for Turnkey Contracts related to the Design, Manufacturing, Qualification, Installation and Commissioning of the Diesel Generator contracts for the HPC project to support the Contract Engineering Lead (CEL). Key responsibilities will be:
Assist the CEL in resolving technical issues related to design, manufacturing and qualification Surveillance of design documentation as specified in the List of Documents Required from the Contractor (LDRC) and Surveillance Plan ensuring that all the requirements from the specification are followed Assist the CEL with the management, tracking of design risks, preparation, assessment of early warning and variations Assist the CEL to answer to supplier requests such as request for information (RFI’s), Interface Queries (IQs) or Exemption Request (ERs) with assistance / sign off from CEL as required Interface with the service contractor, the client and all other stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure the successful delivery of the contract aligned with the overall engineering schedule and technical specification Assist the CEL with the Configuration Management: Contract Transfer Sheets (CTS’s), Design Modifications (UKDCs) and Referential Evolution Requests (RER) preparation as required Support for the development of action plans for OP and support for the preparation of governance meeting Management of interfaces between the Contractors equipment within the scope of supply and interfacing systems, contracts and buildings,
Here's What You'll Need:
A bachelor / master’s degree in a related engineering field (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Etc.) Knowledge and experience with some of the following equipment: Instrumentation, Filters, Piping, Rotating equipment (pumps, compressors), Heat-exchangers, Pressure equipment such as valves and tanks Experience of diesel generators is desirable but not mandatory and experience of electrical and/or fluid systems is desirable Some Project Management / Project Engineering experience; ideally holding a recognized project Management accreditation although not essential Experience in nuclear or another highly- regulated industry i.e. aerospace, oil & gas, energy, or public sector works is desirable Knowledge of UK regulatory requirements (CDM, COSHH, IRR, Environmental Permitting, etc.) Experience with British / ISO standards and other design codes
