Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.

Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.

Working on the integration of electronic and electrical systems for multiple products provides the opportunity to work with multiple disciplines within the organisation. Our integrated machine systems control all aspects of construction machine operation (engine, transmission, hydraulic systems), provide the human-machine interface (operator controls and information displays), and constantly monitor and communicate position, operation, diagnostic and prognostic information to enable machine automation, improved productivity and enhanced serviceability.

Dimension of function:

The successful candidate will be working on a variety of Electronic system projects to develop systems that meet both regulatory and customer requirements.

Area of Responsibility:

This role is for the primary technical support for the Engine Electronic system. It will entail proactively working with other Electronics team members and with development partners, on the complete product development lifecycle of Development prior to production through to post-production maintenance to:

·Participate in the definition of the system architecture and related diagrams and schematics.

·Participate in the selection of suitable Electronic components.

·Participate in the failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and validation activities for the Electronic system and components. Maintaining & improve validation test plans.

·Provide technical support to queries related to pinouts, schematic questions and software functionality support

·Investigate /Analyse / troubleshoot any reported quality issues.

Crucial attributes: 

·Degree-qualified engineer with extensive industry experience in the broad range of systems engineering activities involved in the development of Electronic Engine, machine or automotive control systems. Alternatively, a suitably aligned HNC/NVQ level 4 with additional relevant experience as shown below.

·Demonstrated experience of:

-Integration activities of the system for both fault finding and for Electronic system design ie: down to PWM, analogue and communications signals and experience of how to integrate the Electronic components together.

-Actively collecting and developing detailed Electronic related customer requirements, resulting in Electronic technical specifications

-Defining Electronic features and coordinating the development of them by other teams.

-Performing system verification testing of components and of software features

-Participation in FMEA development

·Understanding internal combustion engines and how they are controlled – Governor etc

Ability to build strong working relationships, locally and within a Global team

Desirable attributes: 

·Off-highway Electronic control system development experience (or comparable experience with automotive, marine or military vehicle control systems)

·Knowledge of engine systems associated to the electronic system eg: Fuel and Air system etc.

·Requirements management (DOORS, Teamcenter

·Controller Area Networks (CAN), Vector CANape and CANalyzer tool experience,

·Proficient in oscilloscope use in development.

·Product structuring and configuration tools eg: Siemens Teamcentre Engineering, Creo.

·PPAP or FMEA facilitator and design validation planning experience

Knowledge / Experience:

·Diesel engine or off-highway machine system development experience (or comparable experience with automotive, marine or military vehicle engine systems)
