Our premium brand Automotive client is currently recruiting for the following role:

Development Engineer - Wheels and Tyres - £27.21/hr (Inside IR35) - Warwickshire - 9 Months (potential for yearly renewal)

Duties:
Our client has an exciting opportunity for an engineer to join the Wheel and Tyre Core Team at Warwickshire in the UK, as Wheel and Tyre Standards Engineer.
The team impacts all client Vehicles, creating and owning the process for component delivery for wheels, tyres and puncture management systems. Being the knowledge holders for the components, the team interacts with multiple areas of the business, including attribute teams, manufacturing, design, marketing, research and regulation. The team also supports the introduction of new technologies and works extensively on forward model architectures.

The team is well established and has a good reputation for technical expertise with genuine influence on shaping client vehicles through the important role of wheels and tyres.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Create wheels, tyres, valves, assembly, PMS and TPMS requirements and test procedures.
  • Contribute and carry out design failure mode analysis (DFMEAs.)
  • Develop tools for use by wheel and tyre engineers.
  • Data analysis and report writing.
  • Continuously look for process improvements, efficiencies, cost reductions, quality improvements and developing capability to deliver commodities with aid of virtual or - simulation techniques (CAE.)
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.

    Skills:
  • Knowledge of automotive wheels and/or tyres development, the various areas of the expertise affected by wheels and tyres, or tyre and/or wheel manufacturing, wheel and tyre assembly, puncture management systems (PMS), or tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS).
  • Self-motivated and able to work to broad guidance.
  • Proven ability to author technical documents.
  • Basic project management capabilities, managing personal tasks to meet all deliverables in a timely and effective manner.
  • To be customer focussed, constructively working with colleagues and customers, responding to their enquiries, in line with client's creators' code.
  • Relevant experience with defining requirements or minimum standards, test procedures, failure mode analysis and quality management.
  • A good working knowledge of product definition, creation, and client delivery processes

    Education:
  • Educated to at least degree level in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent experience

    Additional information:
    This role is on a contract basis and is Inside IR35.
