Design Engineer- Electrical (Auto/Aero/Marine)

My client is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team.

For this role you would need an extensive understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.

• Automotive or Marine or Aerospace experience
  
  
• Experience leading work packages on their own
  
  
• Proven experience in product development and product release
  
  
• Ability to design systems from first principles – such as hand calculations, circuitry derivation, electrical systems design etc.
  
  
• Understanding of industry standard and how these are applied to designs
  
  
• Design and implement systems
  
  
• Manage projects: Schedule manufacturing projects, and ensure they are delivered on time
  
  
• Collaborate: Work with management, engineers and technicians to design and apply new systems
  
  
• Perform calculations: Perform calculations to establish standards and specifications
  
  
• Estimate costs: Estimate material, labour, and construction costs for budgeting
  
  
• Basic understanding of CFD
  
  Roles and responsibilities
  
  Reporting to the design and engineering manager you will be expected to:
  
  
• Support our apprenticeship scheme.
  
  
• Lead and take ownership of work packages from concept through to manufacture – To include - design specification, customer relationships, project management, product design for manufacture.
  
  
• Complete FMEA activities where required.
  
  
• Contribute to the production of new innovations.
  
  
• Support the manufacturing team where required.
  
  
• Contribute to shop floor activities when required.
  
  
• Lead - Quality / Healthy & Safety / environmental initiatives to ensure compliance with all the relevant standards.
  
  
• Managing and monitoring – Engineering change notifications and corrective actions reporting.
  
  
• Create test and development plans
  
  Your skills and education
  
  Ideally a bachelor's degree in an electrical discipline – Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Electronic Engineering
  
  Full UK licence with own vehicle
  
  Experienced with an industry standard CAD package (SolidWorks ideally)
  
  Good communication skills.
  
  Ability to work alone, as a team and lead others when required.
  
  Demonstrate a high level of motivation, innovation and initiate with an ability to train others.
  
  Someone who enjoys a challenge and doesn't get deterred by setbacks
