Our premium brand Automotive client is currently recruiting for the following role:

Control Systems Engineer - £26.65/hr (Inside IR35) - Coventry - 12 Months (potential for yearly renewal)

Position Description:
The Advanced Automation Systems Team is responsible for supporting the development and daily operation of the World Class test bed automation systems in the client power train test facilities in Coventry, UK. This role is specifiicaly to support our EDU and E-Machine test rig automation system. The individual will develop and support the operation of the automation system to deliver timely and quality data by providing the functionality required by the engineering teams to meet the programme timing plans. Additionally, the team is responsible for the integration of other associated systems and hardware as required for testing programmes. The role will also support and solve day to day automation system problems as raised by the operations teams.

Skills Required:

  • Experienced in the application/development of an physical test automation system in a complex environment and/or programming/scripting skills in a controls based environment.
  • Scripting experience (such as C#,Python etc) & good general software skills.
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal/negotiation skills with the ability to understand technical concepts quickly.

    Experience Required:
  • Degree qualified in engineering or similar (automotive/mechanical/mechatronics/control systems engineering).
  • Experience of the Morphee automation system or other test automation systems (PUMA/STARS/dSPACE etc)
  • Experience of associated test bed instrumentation and systems (INCA, Cameo, emissions systems etc.) & automotive networks (CAN/EtherCAT).
  • Knowledge of test facility Mechanical & Electrical hardware.
  • Knowledge of automotive networks (CAN/EtherCAT)
  • Resilient and enthusiastic, an individual able to deliver results under pressure, whilst responding constructively to challenging new ideas and inputs
  • A dynamic and determined individual, highly driven, committed and results-orientated with significant pace, energy and confidence. Able to combine a short term, pragmatic focus with strategic vision.
  • Able to deliver quality and consistency in a complex, highly demanding environment with a range of expectations on what customer-focussed solutions might look like

    Experience Preferred:
  • experience in automation system/control systems.
  • Automotive experience preferred but not essential. Experience in powertrain electrification systems (Electric Drive Units) beneficial but not required.

    Additional Information:
    This role is on a contract basis and is Inside IR35
