Our client is seeking a number of Design Engineers to join their expanding business on a long-term contract basis. You will be working for a well-established company who specialises in the design, manufacture, assembly, test, installation, and commissioning of customised solutions for the nuclear decommissioning, defence, and nuclear new build markets.

Responsible to the Engineering Lead for the delivery of Mechanical Design packages, dependent on the size / complexity of the work scope.

DESIGN ENGINEER ROLE

  • To develop the design of mechanical equipment to a level sufficient for manufacture and functionality

  • To provide the technical production and checking of design and design support documents and ensure they are completed within the required timescales.

  • To develop 3D CAD design of mechanical / structural equipment from conceptual stage to detailed drawings, support design with necessary calculations when / if required

  • Ensure the execution of design activities assigned to him/her in accordance with best engineering practices.

  • To carryout, in addition to design, all aspects of the design process such as draughting, testing of products, as well as other organizational tasks as deemed appropriate in order to ensure timely progress of projects being worked on

  • Experience in carrying out mechanical engineering substantiation for new designs or existing plant.

  • Delivery of technically compliant design deliverables in accordance with the Design Input Requirements.

  • Provide Engineering Support to manufacture right through to client handover.

    DESIGN ENGINEER - EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • HNC Qualified (or Equivalent)

  • Extensive Engineering Workplace Experience

  • Experience in Nuclear, Mechanical Handling, Special Purpose, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Aerospace, Heavy Engineering or Structural Industry preferred

  • Broad based experience in the Detailed Design of Mechanical Equipment

  • Experienced in 2D and 3D design software packages, ideally Autodesk Inventor

  • Conversant with British and European Technical and Legislative standards (Desired)

  • Security Clearance would be advantageous but not essential
