The Opportunity
Our Client; a well-recognised and respected Materials Handling company who are among the world's largest suppliers of Automated Warehouse and Materials Handling solutions are now actively seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support electrical commissioning activities on a permanent basis. Ideally Midlands based, this is a field-based position which would see you supporting customers on-site approximately 80% of the year and you will be eligible for a negotiable (albeit dependent on relevant experience) basic salary, together with a full flexible benefits package, to include a company car or car allowance and will be eligible for paid overtime.

As their Commissioning Engineer, you will play a vital role in performing Electrical and PLC software commissioning activities within the allocated cost and time scale constraints of the material-handling project. You will also ensure the commissioning activities follow the correct methods and standards to meet the requirements of the customer's project.

Your duties and responsibilities will be:
To deliver the assigned project scope and tasks by meetingexceeding our safety, quality, on-time-delivery and budget requirements.
To commission controls systems on-site including electrical and PLC software commissioning and to provide support to system test activities and training for the end user.
To produce commissioning documentation including, but not limited to, commissioning checklists, test specifications, Method Statements and Risk Assessments for Automated solutions to BS EN ISO 12100.
To interpret electrical schematics and design input information.
To ensure systems supplied are CE Compliant to the Machinery Directive.
Commission Safety Related Part of the Controls system solutions to the regulations and in accordance with BS EN ISO 13849/13850/60204 etc.You will have the following qualifications & experience:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering is desirable, however those with an HNC/HND in Electrical/ /Controls Engineering will also be considered.
You will be an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer who has worked within an automated Materials Handling environment (MHE) or perhaps in the Rail, Construction, Nuclear, Utilities and/or Automation industries?
You will need hands-on experience with Electrical commissioning.
You will have the ability to understand Electrical and Electronic technical manuals & drawings.
You will have a good understanding of bus systems.
Ability to travel to customer sites for up to 80% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
A Full driver’s license to support the travel requirements of the role is required.It’s great if you also have the following:
Experience with PLC commissioning activities would be an advantage, but is not essential to this position as they would look to invest in your development here.
An understanding of automated warehouses is desirable, not essential.
Exposure to PLC, HMI, or SCADA development activities would be an advantage, but this is not essential.
Understanding of distributed control systems is desirable, but again is not essential.This position is available with immediate effect.
