Job Description:
As a Commercial Officer you will be involved in a variety of bids and contracts for key programmes, products and customers. Reporting to a Senior Commercial Manager, you will work closely with Integrated Project Teams and Delivery Teams providing commercial support across a number of current contracts, mid-flight bids and future business opportunities.
You will also be responsible for advising project managers (PM) about all the contractual aspects during the entire life cycle of the project, formulating any contractual changes and supporting the PM in evaluating KPIs.
This role sits within the commercial function based in Bristol but with flexibility to work from home on a regular basis; there is also the need to occasionally work from other UK sites or customer location.

As a Commercial Officer you will be expected to maximise your contribution to the business through negotiating new contracts or contractual changes that represent an appropriate level of risk and reward and ensuring all contractual obligations are managed and fulfilled accordingly. You will be responsible for the following:
Drafting, negotiating and management of terms and conditions of contract. Working with Procurement to ensure appropriate flow down to subcontractors. Drafting and reviewing Non-Disclosure Agreements Providing commercial support and administration to projects and/or contracts, including change control management, monitoring performance of contractual obligations, management of commercial risk and contract closure. Producing accurate and compliant customer pricing by applying the appropriate pricing strategy and model to cost estimates Representing the Commercial function and Leonardo through attendance at customer meetings Assisting with the generation of proposals for submission to Customers in conjunction with the preparation of internal documentation required to obtain bid approval Ensuring that commercial and business processes and procedures are adhered to and that associated internal approvals are in place in line with delegated authorities. Assignments requiring cross functional collaboration Functional focal point for IPT project and cross-functional meetings to answer questions concerning contract/commercial matters. Building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers to deliver the best value to the company and customers Working as an integral member of the Integrated Project Team to support the winning of new business and the management and delivery of current contracts Managing own workload, highlighting areas of conflict or priority and escalating or seeking additional support when needed Analyse and identify commercial documents to ensure all information is accurate, relevant and adhered to, in order to ensure they are approved by the business Identify of the contractual milestone, including those related to payments Support the definition of the revenues plan and perform the creation into the company tool Measure initiatives performances through predefined KPIs Support the definition of corrective actions to guarantee the adherence to project plan Participate in meetings with the client to discuss project performances/criticalities or delays (PMR/SAL) Support to analyse changes required by the client Support the management of licensing (import / export) Engage with divisional Legal, finance, treasury prior to and post signing of the contract Provide support in the management of disputes with the client in case of complaints or failure to satisfy the contract Agreement
It would be great if you were a self-starter with knowledge and experienced gained from working within the commercial function.
As a Commercial Officer, you must be able to adopt a holistic contracts management approach to ensure that we manage client expectations to maximise business benefit. You should be confident at operating independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Ideally you will have the following skills and knowledge:
Some understanding of UK MOD terms and conditions as prime and sub-contractor Awareness of ISO44001 & ideally experience of working within an ISO44001 project or programme. General understanding of: business finance, profit & loss, margin & mark up, escalation, foreign exchange, contract law & its application, commercial risk. Ability to fully integrate into Project IPT whilst maintaining clear Commercial integrity & functional reporting. A proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude. A Business/Finance graduate, or equivalent background, with additional professional qualifications desirable, but not essential. Ability to manage ‘Commercial to Commercial’ relationship with Clients ensuring that the division is viewed as honest, trustworthy, easy to work with & committed to delivering customer satisfaction. Recognised as a credible & informed commercial professional with ability to form lasting relationships at all levels internally & with customers. Ability to assess contract variations and negotiate customer changes. Excellent communication skills including commercial shrewdness & strong negotiating skills. Be comfortable working across functional boundaries, & able to influence others in order to achieve common goals.
