MERITUS Talent are partnering with one of the world's largest defence and national security organisations for the recruitment of a Commercial Lead to join on a permanent basis

Commercial Lead - Permanent - Cheltneham - Up to £65,000 per annum - Hybrid Working - Compressed Fortnight - SC Clearance

The Commercial Lead is responsible for commercial and contracts management activities on specific multi-million pound contracts supporting Defence & National Security customers, as well as supporting the wider Commercial team on other existing contracts and opportunities for programmes spanning multiple sectors, including those within Cyber, Maritime and Aerospace.

Responsibilities:

  • Commercial point of contact for key multi-million pound contracts, both pre and post signature, predominantly supporting Defence & National Security customers, including influencing key stakeholders on various Commercial topics
  • Understand the impact of changes to existing contractual terms and conditions and lead programme teams in ensuring such change is accounted for in priced proposals
  • Prepare and negotiate on contracts terms, licence terms, scope and pricing, recognising the risk trade-off. Do this through partnering with the relevant Programme Manager, Business Development Manager, Finance Team and Supply Chain Lead and working within approvals
  • Engage with and support the legal review of contract terms and conditions
  • Support the wider Commercial team with high value, complexity and strategically significant proposals and negotiations

    Your Experience:

  • Relevant degree (such as Law, Business, Economics) and significant demonstrable experience of commercial management in a Defence/business/IT/engineering environment
  • Track record of building strong customer relationships
  • Demonstrable experience of proposal work and review on medium to large scale and complexity captures
  • Demonstrable success in creating and executing negotiating strategies and supporting business decision making.
  • Experience of process development

  • Integrate with business leadership and delivery teams - to enable the successful execution of programmes of national importance;
  • Be part of a wider business team - working closely with Finance, Pricing, Supply Chain, Trade Compliance and Project Controls to maximise Business performance.
