Cloud FinOps Lead Position Summary: Thales is in the process of launching a new cloud development platform and are now seeking an experienced and detail-oriented FinOps Specialist to join our team. The FinOps Specialist will develop, implement, and manage financial operations processes and procedures for Thales UK' cloud engineering activities. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the costs associated with running a cloud platform and software workloads on cloud infrastructure. They will ensure costs can be made visible across organisational boundaries and can be budgeted and optimised at the appropriate organisational level. They will also develop the processes for and support business teams in, the analysis and forecasting of cloud consumption costs including identifying opportunities for automation and supporting their implementation. This role combines an understanding of the cloud engineering factors that impact cost, particularly in the initial adoption / cloud migration phases, as well as the fundamental financial skills and acumen to embed these in Thales UK's financial and commercial functions. The role would particularly suite somebody with experience of transitioning an organisation from more traditional CapEx dominated models, to OpEx cloud consumption models. Position Goals: Increased Cost Efficiency Enhanced Financial Visibility Streamlined Budgeting Support Transition for Capital Intensive to Operationally Intensive Cost Model Cloud FinOps Job Description: Develop and implement financial operations processes and procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency Monitor and analyse financial performance and recommend strategies to optimize operations Be the authority on forecasting and estimation activities for the core cloud platform programme and for functions and project teams that are adopting cloud / cloud-native technologies Ensure compliance with Thales UK financial policies and contractual requirements Ensure the traceability and accuracy of costs associated with cloud financial operations Provide training and support to staff members responsible for financial operations Be the interface between the Cloud Platform Team and the financial functions in Thales UK and its business'. Basic Requirements: Experience in financial operations in a modern cloud engineering context Knowledge of the factors that drive the costs associated with cloud adoption (people, process & technology) Appropriate knowledge of cloud concepts (hands-on cloud experience would be an advantage) Knowledge of financial and accounting principles and practices Proficient in using financial software and other financial management tools in particular those associated with and / or native to cloud services Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines LI-DM1 In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years.
