Chief Mechanical Engineer

BRIEF OVERVIEW

  • Role: Chief Mechanical Engineer
  • Role type: Permanent

  • Location: Warwickshire
  • Working type: Hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 days working from home) + half-day Fridays

    We are looking for a Chief Mechanical Engineer to develop fascinating projects in the field of electrified propulsion across a range of industries such as automotive, aerospace and defence.

    You will be working with a business which is growing every year due to the great work which is done internally. You'll be focusing on areas such as propulsion and actuation within the area of electrified technology. The projects range from very small to very large and apply to various fields such as land, air and water-based vehicles.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Deliver projects, ensuring target margins or better
  • Propose innovative R&D
  • Approve 2D manufacturing drawings to standards
  • Support business development with project scopes, timelines, and cost estimates
  • Oversee advanced simulations and design tools for systems development
  • Develop industry-leading solutions to technical problems
  • Implement processes, ensuring quality and mentoring others
  • Manage cross-functional projects, maintaining budget and customer relationships
  • Build strategic relationships to grow revenue.
  • Support team development and contribute to quality systems
  • Marketing at forums, conferences, and in white papers
  • Handle proposals and quotes, managing project strategy and risks

    REQUIREMENTS
  • Extensive experience in transmission systems
  • Proficient in design and CAE analysis for rotating systems
  • Skilled in applying GD&T for various components
  • Proven success in system integration projects
  • Experience creating system proposals beyond Mechanical Engineering
  • Track record of solving complex technical problems
  • Strong technical reputation with customers and suppliers
  • Experience managing large, multi-discipline projects

    DESIRABLE SKILLS (NOT ESSENTIAL)
  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Expertise in drivetrain software (e.g., SMT MASTA, Romax, Creo, etc.)
  • Experience closing commercial opportunities
  • Familiarity with consultancy business practices
