Up to £60,000 basic + 15-30 % bonus + market-leading benefits

The Opportunity

Our client is a well-established engineering group that designs and manufactures high-accuracy measurement instrumentation and sensor technologies used in R&D, production test and process-control environments worldwide. Following sustained investment in two flagship product lines—covering force, torque, displacement and strain-measurement solutions—they are creating a dedicated Business Development Manager role to accelerate growth across the UK & Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

Own and execute the strategic business-development plan (hunter focus ≈70 %, account nurture ≈30 %).

Map target markets—defence, aerospace, automotive, renewable energy, research—and prioritise prospects based on lifetime-value potential.

Build and manage a robust pipeline: cold-to-close sales cycle typically 3-9 months, average order value £40 k+.

Deliver technical presentations and live demos; liaise with in-house applications engineers to specify bespoke solutions.

Negotiate framework agreements and long-term supply contracts with OEMs, system integrators and test-service providers.

Feed VOC (Voice of Customer) insights into the product-management team to guide roadmap and NPI activity.

About You

Proven track record in B2B solution sales of sensors, instrumentation, test & measurement equipment, or allied electro-mechanical components.

Comfortable engaging at multiple levels—from design engineers to C-suite—within complex, consultative sales cycles.

Strong commercial acumen: pipeline management, forecasting, ROI modelling, tender writing.

HND/Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Physics or similar is advantageous; solid technical affinity essential.

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally (c.40 % of time) with occasional European trips for training/exhibitions.
