An excellent opportunity to work as an Associate Tutor supporting the teaching team on the BSc Psychology programme.
Your role will be to deliver our Remote Sensing and Planetary Materials to students completing the courses in the field of Earth and Planetary Sciences within the School of Natural Science. The module aims to provide an advanced understanding of the processes governing the evolution of planetary surfaces and the remote sensing methods used in their exploration.
Most incumbents of roles at this level will be employed as part of their general academic development and will be undertaking this work independently but in parallel with postgraduate studies, although recent PhD graduates will also be welcome in the role.
In addition to the criteria specified in the job pack below, candidates must have:
A first degree in a relevant field or an equivalent relevant qualification. Awareness of the needs of part-time adult learners and ability to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students and inspire them to learn. Confident presentation skills and ability to clearly and effectively pass on specialist subject area knowledge. Effective oral and written communication skills, to convey both simple and more complex information and academic concepts. Commitment to working with diversity. Organisation and administrative skills. A good level of IT and Communication Technology skills particularly in application to standard packages (eg Word, Excel, e-mail, internet usage). The ability able to work both as part of a team and independently as appropriate and have the ability to support teaching. A willingness to engage in reflective practice.You will be required to deliver weekly lectures along with the setting and marking of 2 assessed coursework’s and 1 examination.
You will be provided with materials from previous years to assist in delivering the module.
This is a fixed term appointment for 13 weeks from 18th September 2023 to 1 January 2024, working 3 hours per week Mondays 6pm to 9pm.
