Assistant Psychologist

Cygnet Broughton House and the Satellites

Cygnet is seeking to recruit two full time, experienced and motivated Assistant Psychologists to join Cygnet Broughton House and the Satellites. This role will be a permanent post working 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

Cygnet Broughton House and the Satellites provide specialist residential service for individuals aged 16 years and above with autism and a learning disability, who may present with behaviours that challenge. The role also requires support to be provided to each of the five Satellites, which includes High Street, that is located across the road from Broughton House, the Beeches that is located in Retford, the Birches that is located in Newark, Elston House that is located in Newark, and the Pines that is located in Mansfield Woodhouse. We aim to provide a safe, comfortable and effective care environment for those in our care, promoting independence and community integration. On-site we have our multi-disciplinary team (MDT) who assist and support us to provide outcome based care and support pathways.

Job Role

The role of the Assistant Psychologists will be to assist with the delivery and evaluation of effective services that meet Cygnets Social Care objectives, national strategic and policy guidelines, commissioner requirements and user and carer needs and expectations. The Assistant Psychologists will undertake psychological assessment, report writing, clinical formulation and psychological interventions under the direction and supervision of the qualified Psychologist who holds clinical responsibility. The Assistant Psychologists will also contribute to the development and review of positive behavioural support schedules, risk assessments, and conduct functional analysis and specific assessments as deemed appropriate by the qualified Psychologist. To contribute to regular MDT reviews for residents. To undertake any tasks, duties and projects that are deemed necessary to support the smooth-running of residents care programmes, baseline assessments and specific therapies with supervision from the Psychologist. To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and / or research projects, teaching, training and project work as agreed and delegated by the Psychologist. To act as a liaison point between the Psychology team and care staff in Cygnet settings. Clinical supervision will be provided as an important part of personal and professional development, and additional training will be supported. We also offer an excellent Assistant Psychologist Development Programme to support our Assistant Psychologists continuing professional development.

Candidate Profile

You will be a strong team player, confident, motivated and well organised. You will have a good understanding of the role of therapeutic boundaries, clinical risk and the importance of evidence-based interventions and risk assessment. Patience and commitment are essential, but above all youll be someone with a genuine desire to help others. We are looking for someone with a good degree in Psychology, further postgraduate training in relevant area of applied psychology is desirable. Previous experience of working within autism and learning disability services and settings is essential, and previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist is desirable. All candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and reference checks.
