Job Description Main Purpose of the Role Workingwithin Perth & Kinross Council is more than a job, it's aboutbeing part of something meaningful. It's about being part of anorganisation that puts people at the heart of all we do andprovides opportunities to make a real difference by enhancing everylife we touch. /n We currently have the following opportunity: /nAssistant Policy Officer x 2 posts, (Fixed Term until 31 March2026) - PKC12617 £29,507 - £31,609 Community Greenspace Policy& Projects Team, Pullar House, Perth /n These roles have beencreated to deliver actions from Perth & Kinross Council's newAsh Dieback & Roadside Tree Strategy. The post holder will beworking within the Community Greenspace Policy & Projects Teamand in partnership with other Council departments including theRoads Maintenance Partnership and Housing teams. /n The roles areprimarily based on site, across all of Perth & Kinross. Youwill be conducting surveys of trees across the Council's 1900maintained open spaces, parks and other green spaces, as well ascompleting vehicle-based roadside tree surveys along the extensiveroads network. /n Using GIS software, you will be record andgenerate a database of all Council-owned Ash Trees, which will beused to prioritise the management of trees and mitigate riskassociated with Ash Dieback. You will generate survey reports andrecommendations for required management actions. /n The postholders will report directly to the Greenspace Co-ordinator(Policy) and assist the Tree & Woodlands Officer. Skills &Experience Required A keen eye for details and ability to recorddata in a clear and appropriate fashion, following existingprotocols. /n Excellent communication skills and able to produceclear and concise reports. /n Must be comfortable working outdoorswith a reasonable level of fitness. /n Able to stay focussed andcomfortable driving for extended periods of time. /n A drivinglicence is essential for this role as this post requires you totravel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.. /nArboricultural experience or qualifications would be advantageous./n A qualification in environmental science or similar is notrequired, but would be beneficial.
