Lead ASIC Architect

Support Applications Engineer - EDA

We are seeking a talented and motivated ASIC Test and Characterisation Engineer to join a cutting-edge technology company revolutionising high-performance computing (HPC) and cloud computing. This role is pivotal in advancing ultra-low-power, high-bandwidth interconnect technologies with applications across industries such as camera sensors, autonomous vehicles, and aerospace. The company operates in both the UK and the US.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bring up, debug, and characterise ASIC ICs on evaluation platforms.

  • Develop and execute test plans and establish infrastructure for ASIC bring-up and characterisation.

  • Provide input on evaluation PCBA designs to support comprehensive ASIC performance verification.

  • Select test equipment and communication tools required for ASIC verification and characterisation.

  • Collaborate with software developers to define and refine test software for ASIC debugging and characterisation.

  • Analyse test results, diagnose issues, and refine test setups and procedures to enhance measurement accuracy and isolate functional or performance issues.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field with 2+ years of relevant work experience.

  • Proficiency in standard communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, MDIO, and Ethernet.

  • Strong knowledge of analogue communication circuits.

  • Experience with RF design and testing using tools such as oscilloscopes, digital communication analysers, VNAs, optical power meters, and power supplies is highly desirable.

  • Strong skills in lab automation scripting with Python are essential.

  • Experience working with and programming microcontrollers and/or FPGAs is advantageous.

  • A flexible, fast learner who thrives in a dynamic start-up environment.

  • Familiarity with the physics of semiconductor devices (emitters and photodetectors) is an advantage.
