Electroplating Specialist
Location: Coventry CV2
Pay Rate: £13.00 per hour
Job Type: Temp to Perm (12-week qualifying period)
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 06:30 to 16:30

Empowered Personnel is currently seeking a skilled Anodiser with a solid background in electroplating and metal finishing. Our client is a respected manufacturer based in Coventry, known for delivering high-quality aluminium and metal components to the automotive, aerospace, architectural, and general manufacturing sectors. Due to business growth, they are expanding their anodising and electroplating team.

Key Responsibilities – Anodiser / Electroplating Technician:

  1. Preparation & Pre-treatment:

    • Degrease, etch, and clean aluminium surfaces in preparation for the anodising process
    • Inspect components before electroplating to ensure surface quality
    • Use jigging and masking for selective anodising
    • Maintain chemical balance in cleaning and etching tanks

  2. Anodising Process:

    • Set up and operate anodising tanks in line with production instructions
    • Monitor voltage, current, and timing for precision electroplating results
    • Control tank temperature and chemical parameters to ensure consistent anodising
    • Maintain throughput while ensuring electroplating quality

  3. Colouring & Sealing (if applicable):

    • Carry out colouring using electrolytic dyes or pigmentation
    • Apply sealing methods to protect anodised surfaces

  4. Inspection & Quality Control:

    • Conduct inspections on thickness, colour uniformity, and surface finish
    • Use micrometers and gauges to verify anodising standards
    • Log all quality control data and flag non-conformities

  5. Maintenance & Health and Safety:

    • Conduct maintenance on anodising and electroplating machinery
    • Handle chemicals per COSHH regulations
    • Keep work areas clean and PPE compliant

    What Our Client Is Looking For:

    Essential:

    • Proven experience as an Anodiser in a metal finishing or electroplating environment
    • Strong understanding of electrochemical processes including anodising
    • Competent in reading technical drawings and following job specs
    • High attention to detail with ability to detect surface defects
    • Skilled in racking, jigging, and handling delicate parts

    Desirable:

    • Experience with hard coat, decorative, or sulphuric acid anodising
    • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 standards
    • Knowledge of basic maintenance for anodising tanks and electroplating systems
    • Forklift or crane experience

    Working Conditions for the Anodiser / Electroplating Operator:

    • Frequent exposure to chemicals, vapours, and industrial noise (full PPE provided)
    • Physical work, including standing for long periods and manual handling
    • May involve rotating shifts (days, afternoons, nights, or weekends depending on business needs)
