Algorithms Engineer

Reading - Hybrid

Thales is a world leader in the design and manufacture of products for the worldwide defence, aerospace and security markets. Thales design and manufacture a diverse range of Electro-Optical products across our Glasgow and Reading sites.

An algorithms engineer is required to join the team enhancing and supporting the next generation of Infra-Red Threat Warning and Missile fuzing systems. Algorithms engineering is seen as a key capability for our business and is well positioned to provide opportunity for career growth.

The role will involve supporting, enhancing and extending equipment capability. This will include

Analysis of system behaviour from trials and customer feedback Concept generation and development of algorithmic solutions Algorithm updates for new features and to address feedback Collaboration with the wider engineering teams, specifically Software and Systems to deploy updates Synthetic modelling and scenario generation Thorough verification and validation activities at all levels Support to reviews, trials and customer activities

We are looking for a candidate who..

Skills, qualifications and experience

You will have Bachelor or Masters Degree (BEng, BSc, MEng, MSc) in a Numerate, Scientific or Engineering subject or Higher Education/equivalent training and experience.

Ideally, you will have knowledge and experience in some of the following:

Analysis and Algorithm development using MATLAB, preferably for real time embedded systems Real time software development using C++ Signal processing

Security Clearance statement

Due to the sensitive nature of much of the work, all applicants must be eligible for Security Clearance (SC level minimum), however you can start on BPSS whilst the SC application is in progress. Please check minimum criteria for Security Clearance before applying.
