Are you a detail-oriented Systems Engineer passionate about autonomous and uncrewed systems like drones?

About Us

At Archangel Autonomy, we deploy AI and robotics to protect service personnel, critical infrastructure, and first responders in large, remote areas. Our mission is to make machines smart enough to become competent teammates instead of just tools, working alongside society's most exposed workers in remote and challenging locations to protect people, infrastructure, assets and planet at scale.

We're seeking a Systems Engineer ready to make a real impact!

In this role you'll report to the CTO and work with the tech team and Project Manager to drive the design and delivery of innovative UXV co-pilot systems. You'll define system requirements, architecture, and modelling letting us push the boundaries of autonomous systems.

This position plays a crucial role in delivering reliable, game-changing solutions to end users. Each feature release brings us closer to transforming the future of autonomous technology. This is your opportunity to accelerate your career while shaping the next generation of intelligent systems.

Location

This is an office-based role in Oxford. You'll work alongside leading engineers, AI specialists, and industry pioneers, contributing directly to cutting-edge advancements in autonomous technology.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage and execute the V-model design process for UXV Autonomous Navigation systems, including performing system and subsystem trade studies.
  • Define and track system requirements from use case definition to subsystem requirement derivation.
  • Create and maintain system architecture that meets the required specifications.
  • Develop new feature for the system by developing models, tools, and processes throughout the full engineering lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with the team and Project Manager to manage technical risks.
  • Liaise with stakeholders on technical matters.

What We're Looking For:

  • 2-3 years of experience in developing UAV, UXV, autonomous systems, or aerospace technologies, covering both system architecture and product development.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, with a first-principles approach to problem-solving and an understanding of the full engineering lifecycle. Eligibility to work in the UK with the ability to obtain full security clearance

Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Technical Expertise: Model-based design (MBSE, Simulink, UML, SysML), embedded software systems, and simulation of complex dynamic systems.
  • Autonomous Systems & Robotics: Experience with UAVs, UXVs, PNT systems, flight controllers, and robotics sensors (IMU, GPS/GNSS, LIDAR, RADAR, Cameras).
  • Industry & Work Environment: Background in defence/aerospace, start-ups, or small teams requiring adaptability and problem-solving.
