Salary: Up to £68,000 depending on experience

Electus Recruitment Solutions are currently seeking a Senior Telecoms Systems Engineer to join an innovative engineering and technology team working at the forefront of5G, 6G, satellite communications and future network technologies.
This is a technically varied role combining systems engineering, hands-on technical delivery, consultancy and technical leadership across collaborative projects involving commercial organisations, research bodies and technology partners.
The successful candidate will bring strong experience insatellite communications or telecommunications systems, together with the ability to understand and integrate technologies across the wider communications ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on collaborative technology projects involving external stakeholders
• Develop and deliver innovative communications solutions for real-world end users
• Apply systems engineering principles to complex telecommunications and satellite communications challenges
• Support the development and integration ofterrestrial and non-terrestrial network technologies
• Contribute to system architecture, integration, testing and technical demonstrations
• Work hands-on with systems, hardware and software as required
• Engage with customers, technology partners, universities and research organisations
• Identify and resolve complex technical issues affecting project delivery
• Contribute to technology development across areas including5G, 6G, satellite communications, IoT and future networks
• Support technical bids and proposals for collaborative and externally funded programmes

About you
You are likely to have a degree, MSc, PhD or equivalent relevant experience in Satellite Communications, Telecommunications Systems or a related discipline, with substantial experience in the sector.
You will needin-depth expertise in at least one of the following areas:

• Satellite payloads
• Ground station development and integration, particularly for emerging or innovative technologies
• Core network technologies

You should also have a good general understanding of all three areas and be able to understand how they operate together within an end-to-end satellite communications network.
You will ideally have:

• 7+ years' experience in satellite communications, telecommunications or a closely related technical field
• Strong understanding ofend-to-end satellite communications architecture
• Experience across terrestrial and/or non-terrestrial networks
• Practical experience developing and implementing solutions for end users
• Demonstrabletechnical leadership on collaborative projects involving external organisations
• Experience with system architecture, integration, deployment and technical demonstrations
• Hands-on experience integrating systems involving hardware and software, including some coding
• Experience of externally funded collaborative programmes such asIUK, ESA or Horizon
• Experience contributing to technical bids or framework programme proposals
• Strong stakeholder management and technical communication skills

The role
This is a practical and collaborative engineering environment where you will have the opportunity to work on emerging communications technologies and help translate innovative concepts into solutions that can be demonstrated and taken towards market.
The role involves regular travel betweentwo technical sites, which are approximately an hour apart. Typically, you can expect to spend around one day per week at each site, with the remainder of the working week flexible and home working available.
The second site is a practical test and demonstration facility where engineers work with technologies includingdrones and other field-based systems, so candidates must be comfortable combining systems engineering with hands-on technical activity.
