Where You'll Earn Your Stripes

• Carrying out in-process and final dimensional inspection of precision-machined components, working to tolerances measured in microns
• Operating and setting up CMMs and other metrology equipment, with structured training to build your programming capability
• Completing first article inspections (FAI) and inspection reports to satisfy demanding aerospace and automotive customer requirements
• Performing goods-inward inspection, verifying materials, certificates of conformity and traceability documentation
• Identifying and containing non-conforming product, raising NCRs with clear, accurate supporting evidence
• Supporting root cause investigations and corrective actions alongside the engineering team
• Managing calibration schedules and keeping inspection equipment in peak condition
• Providing guidance to less experienced inspectors as the team expands
• Building towards deputising within the quality function — a deliberate step on the progression pathway

Because the components serve both aerospace and automotive customers, you'll gain exposure to AS9100 and IATF 16949 environments, two of the most respected quality standards in manufacturing, and a combination that makes any quality CV significantly stronger.

Who We're Looking For

• Proven inspection experience in precision engineering, machining or a similarly demanding manufacturing environment
• Hands-on ability with CMMs and precision measuring equipment i.e. micrometers, gauges, optical systems and the rest
• Confident reading engineering drawings and working to tight tolerances, including GD&T
• A meticulous eye for detail and real pride in the accuracy of your work
• Comfortable with documentation, records and traceability — the backbone of aerospace and automotive quality
• And above all, someone who wants to progress. If you're content to stand still, this isn't the role for you but if you've got your eye on a Quality Engineer position in the next few years, the business will help you get there

Experienced inspectors are ideal, but skilled machinists, setters or toolmakers looking to make the move into quality are equally encouraged to apply.
