Are you an experienced Field Service Engineer with a background in satellite communications, networking, telecommunications or maritime technology?
We're supporting a leading global technology organisation who deliver critical communications, networking and satellite solutions to commercial, government and defence customers worldwide. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their Portsmouth operation.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with advanced satellite communication and data communication systems supporting a diverse customer base across the maritime, government and defence sectors.
The Opportunity
As a Field Service Engineer, you'll be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of specialist communications equipment both on-site and in the field.
You'll work directly with customers, ensuring critical systems remain operational while delivering a first-class level of technical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation, testing and commissioning of communications equipment
- Conducting field service activities and fault finding
- Carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance
- Preparing and configuring equipment prior to deployment
- Producing detailed technical reports and service documentation
- Supporting workshop repair and build activities when required
- Maintaining company equipment, tools and spares inventory
- Delivering exceptional customer service during site visits
- Conducting GMDSS surveys where required
What We're Looking For
- Experience within Field Service, Telecommunications, Satcom, Datacoms or Networking environments
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience with satellite communications or maritime communications systems would be advantageous
- Excellent customer-facing communication skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Willingness to travel regularly as part of the role
- Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC)

- VSAT systems
- Inmarsat, Iridium, Intellian, Cobham or Sailor equipment
- GMDSS systems
- RF communications
- Maritime communications environments
- Defence or government communications projects
- Networking technologies including LAN/WAN infrastructure
