We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Engineer (EICA) to join our Drinking Water Services team. This role forms part of a flexible regional MEICA team responsible for supporting the maintenance, reliability and performance of critical drinking water assets across our operational sites.

Working closely with operational teams, engineers and external partners, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering maintenance and improvement activities across Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (EICA) systems, whilst also supporting mechanical and operational requirements where appropriate.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys problem-solving, fault finding and improving the reliability and efficiency of complex treatment and distribution assets that provide essential services to our customers.

• Deliver planned preventative maintenance, regulatory inspections and reactive maintenance activities across drinking water assets.

• Plan, coordinate and implement maintenance programmes and site improvement projects.

• Carry out installation, commissioning and fault finding activities on instrumentation, control, automation and electrical systems.

• Provide technical support for mechanical maintenance, commissioning and asset performance improvements.

• Investigate equipment failures and identify root causes of performance issues, implementing sustainable solutions.

• Support the reliability, efficiency and optimisation of treatment and distribution assets.

• Prepare and review technical documentation including risk assessments, method statements, procedures and work instructions.

• Support operational and craft maintenance teams with technical expertise and troubleshooting.

• Maintain strong working knowledge of treatment processes, plant equipment and operational systems.

• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company procedures, regulatory requirements and health and safety standards.

• Liaise with internal stakeholders including Operational Technology, Information Services, Workshops and operational teams.

• Manage contractors and third-party suppliers where required.

• Maintain high standards of site housekeeping, safety and asset care.

• Participate in standby and emergency response arrangements as required.

• Time-served Electrical, ICA or Electrotechnical apprenticeship.

• Relevant engineering qualification such as City & Guilds, BTEC, ONC, HNC or HND.

• Current electrical competency certification and understanding of relevant regulations.

• Strong experience in instrumentation, control and automation systems.

• Knowledge of PLC systems, industrial control systems and supporting infrastructure.

• Electrical installation, commissioning and fault-finding experience.

• Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

• Experience preparing risk assessments, safe systems of work and technical procedures.

• Strong understanding of maintenance planning and delivery.

• Working knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe working practices.

• Ability to self-manage workload and respond effectively to operational priorities.

• Full UK Driving Licence.

• Experience within the water or utilities industry.

• Industrial electrical experience including control panels and high-voltage systems.

• Mechanical maintenance knowledge and experience.

• Experience operating and maintaining water treatment processes and assets.

• Leadership or supervisory experience.

• Knowledge of reliability-centred maintenance (RCM) principles.

• Confined Space, Breathing Apparatus or Gas Handling certification.

• Experience supporting apprentices and developing operational teams.

• High reliability and availability of drinking water production assets.

• Effective and timely delivery of maintenance programmes.

• Reduction in equipment failures and repeat faults.

• Strong compliance with health, safety and regulatory requirements.

• Positive relationships with operational teams and stakeholders.

• Continuous improvement initiatives that enhance performance, efficiency and service delivery.

• Participation in an out-of-hours standby rota is required.

• A company vehicle will be provided.

• Travel across operational areas will be required depending on business needs.
