Salary:
Basic: £30,731.94
Shift allowance: + shift prem £7,682.99 annual salary £38,414.93
 
After 3 months successful probationary
Basic:£31,366.65

Profile:
We are lucky to be working with one of the world’s leading manufacturers of Nickel, Titanium and Steel alloy forgings for the aerospace, defence and energy sectors. A vacancy has arisen for a Welder to join their team based in Livingston. This is an ideal opportunity for a candidate who would like to continue their career within an exciting and progressive manufacturing facility.
 
Working to both planned and reactive work schedules within the plant, repairing and maintaining forging presses, furnaces, machine tools and Dies. The successful candidate will join a team responsible for all elements of Welding/Fabrication repairs.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • To support the site in pursuing business objectives.
  • To assist with the identification, development and implementation of operational improvements
  • To ensure continuity of production of quality parts ensuring customer satisfaction is achieved.
  • To ensure that quality, cost and delivery are continually improved.
  • To ensure that all work meets customer (internal and external) expectations on delivery and quality.
  • To be flexible and adaptable within work area

 
Role:

  • To carry out repairs and Fabrication works to a high level and responding quickly and efficiently to plant breakdowns.
  • To assist with the successful introduction of new/modified parts, equipment and tooling.
  • To ensure that high standards of health, safety and housekeeping are met.
  • Setting up the Sub arc welding machine, this includes aligning and adjusting the machine
  • Using the machine to carry out weld repairs, as specified by blueprints, layouts, welding procedures, and operating charts
  • Selecting the correct voltage and power of the machine
  • Visually examining welds for adherence to specifications
  • Adjusting machine set up according to vary size, location and penetration of bead Welding materials such as Titanium, Stainless, Mild Steel, Inconel, High Carbon content steels.
  • Preheating surfaces, using hand torch or heating furnaces
  • Ability to record work progress on a computer.
  • Burning/Lancing experience
  • Ability to fabricate as required.
  • To develop efficient working processes and seek ways to continuously improve all aspects of your own job.
  • To work to established process methods, reporting any deviations and correcting these as necessary.
  • To apply problem-solving skills relating to manufacture and to continually improve processes.
  • To participate in continuous improvement activities such as Lean manufacturing techniques, T.P.M, Asset Care, and 6’s etc
  • To work to achieve the performance measures identified within the team.
  • To assisting in aiding two-way communications.
  • To identify own training needs with your team leader and assist with training others if competent and designated as a trainer.
  • To undertake additional training within work area in line with the company needs.
  • To ensure that new starters follow the maintenance training programme and that the skill matrices are maintained and updated.
  • To ensure the upkeep of team boards and the completion of administration as required.

 
Knowledge & Experience:

  • Time served Welder with experience of MMA, Mig and Sub Arc Welding technics.
  • Must have a proven track record of Fabricating works to a high standard.
  • Interpreting work instructions, drawings and schematic drawings
  • Computer literate
  • Able to work at heights and in enclosed spaces
  • Prior industry/Production experience would be beneficial
  • Knowledge and application of safe working practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
