The Role

  • To perform welding operations to the required quality standard.
  • Perform basic pre-work welding equipment checks.
  • Control of welding consumables after issue.
  • Adherence to welding procedure specifications (WPS).
  • Identify and report potential welding problems.
  • Awareness of the required welding acceptance standards.

  • Management and control of welding fumes to self and others.
  • Welding of high integrity piping and structural steel.
    Requirements:
  • Proficient with Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) and Manual Metal Arc (MMA) welding processes.

  • Previous experience in the welding of Super-Duplex Stainless Steel (desirable).
  • Previous experience in the welding of Carbon Steel, Low-Alloy Steel and Austenitic Stainless Steel materials (essential).
  • Recognised welding apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
  • BTEC/C&G/EAL/SEGS/ECITB Welding & Fabrication Level 2 (or Level 3) or equivalent experience.
  • Appropriate ISO 9606-1 welder qualifications.
  • CCNSG Safety Passport

  • Satisfactory completion of ECITB Skills Test prior to deployment at HPC.
  • Knowledge of welding essential variables.
  • Knowledge of key welding processes i.e., TIG & MMA (Previous experience in orbital TIG welding is an advantage).
  • Basic understanding of the NDE methods to be applied (MT, PT, RT & UT) and how deviations in welding and preparation effect the performance of each method. Payrates:
  • £28.18/hr basic (first 38hours/week)
  • £39.46/hr overtimes rate A (after 38 hours/week- starts from Friday Morning until Midday Saturday)
  • £50.73 Overtimes rate B ( From Midday Saturday to Sunday 12pm)
