Mild hybrid integration sounds straightforward until it is not. When 48V architecture, ICE calibration and vehicle level behaviours collide, somebody has to own validation discipline and issue resolution. That is this role.


We are seeking a hands on Validation Engineer to support integration, verification and structured fault resolution of MHEV propulsion systems across vehicle programmes.


The Role

You will operate at the sharp end of propulsion integration, supporting vehicle builds, Pilots and engineering test activity while driving structured validation planning and execution.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support investigation and resolution of propulsion system issues across ICE and MHEV architectures.
  • Provide hands on technical support during vehicle build and PIL phases, ensuring rapid fault diagnosis and containment.
  • Conduct vehicle and PIL level fault finding for ICE and MHEV powerpacks using structured diagnostic methods.
  • Develop and maintain DVPs, test cases, validation procedures and technical requirements documentation.
  • Contribute to system definition, integration strategy and validation planning activities.
  • Utilise diagnostic and data analysis tools to interrogate vehicle behaviour and subsystem interactions.
  • Apply systems engineering principles to manage cross domain technical risks.
  • Collaborate across commodities, domains and programme teams to ensure aligned issue resolution.
  • Support validation in engineering facilities, rig environments and vehicle test settings.
  • Drive structured root cause analysis using Six Sigma or equivalent methodologies.

Technical Scope

You will work across:



  • ICE and MHEV propulsion system integration
  • 48V architectures and battery technology
  • Powertrain system interactions and control strategies
  • Vehicle and rig based validation environments
  • Technical issue management within programme constraints

Tools exposure expected includes INCA, CANalyzer, Corvus, MATLAB, PicoScope and MDA.


Your Profile

  • Strong engineering understanding of ICE and MHEV propulsion systems with integration exposure.
  • Foundational knowledge of hybrid and electric propulsion architectures.
  • Working knowledge of electrical engineering principles and battery system interactions.
  • Proven experience in powertrain technical issue management.
  • Experience operating within engineering facilities, rig environments and vehicle testing programmes.
  • Competence using diagnostic and data analysis tools such as INCA, CANalyzer, Corvus, MATLAB, PicoScope or MDA.
  • Demonstrable structured problem solving capability using Six Sigma or similar frameworks.
  • Experience applying a systems engineering approach to complex propulsion issues.
  • Ability to build and manage cross functional relationships across domains and suppliers.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and relevant vehicle test permits.

Knowledge of Agile or Scrum methodologies and experience using JIRA is advantageous.
