TheOpportunity At Hinkley Point C (HPC), we are constructing two newnuclear reactors, marking the first of a new generation of nuclearpower stations in the UK. Once operational, these reactors willprovide low-carbon electricity to power around six million homes.An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Pre-Ops and CommissioningTeam for a Commercial Manager. You will join an ever-expanding teamto help with the day-to day contract and commercial managementduties for Pre-Ops and Commissioning contracts. This will involveliaising with contractors and being responsible for managing andreviewing payments, contact administration (via CEMAR) and generalcommercial management duties including risk mitigation. As part ofyour role, you will have further opportunities to develop andsupport the delivery of Long-Term Service Agreements (LTSA) for HPCwhich is a significant workstream for the operational phase of theproject. This will require the co-ordination and oversight of thecomplete procurement cycle in line with HPC governancerequirements, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition ofgoods and services. What you’ll bedoing You’ll oversee the day-to-day management of Supply ChainAssistants, guiding them to ensure seamless project operations.You’ll be responsible for the delivery of contracts, ensuringalignment with HPC governance requirements and business objectives.Throughout each contract phase, you’ll play a key role: ProcurementPhase: Supporting the procurement process and assisting the SeniorCommercial Manager by assessing the contract’s scope, duration, andexpected value against the Contract Authorised Sum (CAS), anddefining commercial requirements. Execution Phase: Leading thecommercial administration of contracts, aiming to optimizeoperational and financial outcomes while minimizing risk, ensuringthe safe and cost-effective delivery of the HPC programme. CloseoutPhase: Managing contract closeouts, providing commercial support toproject managers, and ensuring formal completion of all projectcontracts. You’ll also identify and document key commercialinsights and lessons learned for future projects. Throughout,you’ll provide commercial support to the Senior Commercial Managerto facilitate effective contract delivery and help drive thesuccess of HPC’s business objectives. Who you are You’re anexperienced contract management professional with a solidfoundation in commercial practices and a proven track record ofsuccessfully administering contracts. You have a strongunderstanding of best-practice methodologies and bring sounddecision-making skills, especially in high-value financial matters.With expertise in contract performance measurement, risk, andchange management, you’re well-equipped to handle complexcommercial functions. Educated to degree level or with equivalentexperience, you’re familiar with the most widely used contractforms in the industry, including NEC and FIDIC, and have aparticular focus on UK law and its implications on contract andcommercial roles. Ideally, you also bring knowledge of the nuclearsite license conditions and the UK regulatory framework, and youmay even be a member of a professional body such as RICS, CICES, orIOB.
