NexGen Consultancy are currently recruiting for a Trainee Production Planning Engineer to join a well established, successful engineering manufacturer located in Essex.
Our client are a long-established subcontract CNC machining company primarily supplying components for the Aerospace Industries, with approximately 36 machine tools of various configurations from Pallet Loaded Horizontals to 3m 5-Axis Indexers.
We are currently recruiting for a Trainee Production Planning Engineer to join their current team, to learn and develop within the company, with future incentive to become the Planning Manager.
Planning Department is responsible for the following:

  • Providing Quotations for New Projects from “Rough Order of Magnitude” up to “Definitive Estimates”
  • Industrialisation of New Projects.
  • Providing input on Machine requirements and procurements
  • Providing Detailed methods of Manufacture
    i. Route-cards
    ii. Stage Drawings
  • Designing bespoke Fixtures including Detailed Drawings and Bill of Materials
  • Designing bespoke Gauges when required
  • Creating off-line CNC Programs and Setting Details for Fixtures
    i. Detailed Tool Lists
    ii. Setting Instructions
  • Creating off-line CNC Programs and Setting Details for Components.
    i. Detailed Tool Lists
    ii. Setting Instructions
    iii. Loading Instructions
    iv. Gauging Requirements
  • Maintaining and improving methods for existing parts.
  • Reduction of Cycle Times
  • Reduction of potential manufacturing risks
  • Implementation of Customer Concerns
  • Maintaining our CNC Program Database
  • Integrity of Proven Programs returned from the Shop Floor
  • Maintaining a Database of Customers Supplied Models.
    To carry out the above we are conversant with the following software:
  • Autodesk Inventor Series
  • To receive and review customers models
  • To Design Fixture Assemblies and Gauges
  • To Provide Detailed Fixture and Stage Drawings
  • HyperMill
  • For Creation of CNC Toolpaths for Fixtures and Parts
  • For Post Processing of CNC Output.
  • Vericut Simulation
  • For Simulation and Optimisation of Post Processed Toolpaths.
    The ideal candidate(s) would require the following:
  • Previous experience working within a CNC environment
  • An understanding of CADCAM programming
  • Aerospace background (desirable)
  • Knowledge of cycle times, planning and production
  • Desire to develop into a fully experience Production/Planning Engineer
    This is a very exciting opportunity to shadow their current Planning Manager, who is retiring in 2 years, and takeover the production responsibilities.
