Carbon60 are proud to be partnering with Lufthansa Technik Landing Gear Services to recruit for a Tool Maker within the Plating area. Lufthansa Technik are a global leading provider of maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for the civil aviation industry.

This Tool Maker position is on a permanent basis and has become available due to continued growth and expansion. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of precision tools, jigs, and fixtures used in the manufacturing and assembly of aerospace components. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tool making.

Role Responsibilities will include:

Operate both manual and CNC machine tools, including milling machines, lathes, and grinders, as well as hand tools.
Use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments.
Responsible for the manufacture, service and repair of tools, assembly jigs and fixtures during the development of new products and support of existing products.
Manufacture of tools against drawings, sketches and verbal instructions.
To give advice on tooling design and manufacture for tools used in Assembly, Machining, Plating and NDT operations.
Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and other team members to develop and improve tooling solutions.
Maintenance and repair of existing production tools.
Liaise with Engineering and Production personnel, to help the Engineering design team on tool design and assist in reviewing/ checking processes.
Skills and Experience required:

Tool room experience preferable but good all rounded experience within a workshop environment essential preferably in the aerospace industry.
A good working knowledge of mathematics and workshop practice to at least City and Guilds Engineering standard.
Strong knowledge of machining techniques, materials, and tools.
Working knowledge of welding i.e Gas, Mig Tig, and Stick Welding but not essential.
Disciplines in the use of CNC machinery, Lathes, Grinding, Milling, and other tool room machinery.
Proven ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and other specifications to ensure tools are manufactured to requirements Ability to work from engineering drawings from various sources (Internal / OEM / External companies).
